Introduction

I always was interested in creating videos but only started properly after getting an Adobe Premiere license from my university for one semester in 2021. Before that, I created some small videos with Hitfilm Express, including the first video on my channel which was a kinetic typography assignment for a class I had.
Later on in 2022, I discovered Davinci Resolve, which is the editing software I still use and adore.
All my videos are in German, as I can express myself better in my mother tongue, but there are English subtitles for every video, which I added manually to make them more accessible.

Morrowind

I enjoy watching videogame analysis content and after gaining access to a proper editing software, I tried my hands on creating a small analysis about my favorite videogame „The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind“.
It combined my personal experiences with the game over the years with some explanation about the systems of the game and why I enjoy them so much. That's why I called it „My Story“ rather than using the word „Analysis“.
Even though the audio and overall content of the video is quite bad from today's perspective, the editing and visual aspects still holds up.

Zelda Majoras Mask

The second video I created during that semester. I chose a similar approach by telling my story with this game over the years and connecting my fears and deeper topics with the passing of time, both in game and in real life. Ironically, this video was created under time pressure because my license was running out soon.
This was the first time I needed to get more technical to get some visually appealing B-Roll footage. I emulated these games on my PC and through mods / cheats I was able to unlock a free-cam mode for both the N64 and 3DS version.
The writing got a bit better and everything else is like my first video.

Dark Souls

The first video created with Davinci Resolve.
I had a vision of producing a proper analysis video, going through all three Dark Souls games and started by collecting topics I wanted to cover and designing an appealing thumbnail. From there, the script was written and scenes I needed to record were planned out.
I bought all games on PC, so I was able to use free-cam mods for recording cinematic footage again. Dark Souls II was more restricted and I needed to fall back on Cheat-Engine in order to move the camera. The recording of game footage alone took around 60-70 hours. Despite a rough shot list, I ended up jumping back into the games multiple times to record a better version or something different. I also wanted some real life recordings which I've done in a nearby forest by memorizing the text, so I can have the sequence in one take.
The editing took the most time, averaging around five hours of work per minute of the video. Playing around with effects, transitions, sound, timings and filters to create a cohesive and high-quality look was the most fun part of the project.
By chance, I roughly landed at the one hour mark so I made it precisely 60 minutes long. By using a new microphone, the audio was way better and I uploaded the video after 6 months of work on christmas day, 2022. All in all, production took around 450-500 hours with research.

Remakes

A video created out of frustration over the Demon's Souls Remake. It had a more journalistic approach by analyzing interviews and qoutes of developers, going through the development and vision of some games and using definitions to differentiate between different sorts of re-releases. In-game footage was recorded via emulation and free-cam mods again. The real life scenes were recorded at a nearby cemetery during winter. The smaller scope made it way more manageable and it was released on March 11, 2023.

Bloodborne

This video was more similar to my Dark Souls video, yet had another approach again. I only covered one game this time and split it up from more surface level analysis into deeper and more abstract topics the game covers. This video had small collaborations with friends, who were voicing some parts and helping out with ideas.
This time I was more focused on telling a cohesive and exciting story with my script by connecting the topics in a smart way and using my voice more thoughtfully.
I started this project after the free-cam mod was finally released. I needed to jailbreak a PS4 and get a modified version of Bloodborne running in order to record cinematic footage via a capture card and OBS, I explained my approach and the rescources used more detailled in the comments of the video. The real life scene was recorded in a basement.
This video initially had a smaller scope but ended up at exactly one hour again, I even needed to cut out many topics, since Bloodborne has so much potential for analysis and interpretation. Production took around 500 hours again, spread over 6 months and was released on Halloween, 2023.
